College Success Boot Camp

The graduating senior high school festivities have been a whirlwind of activities and celebration. There has been much to reflect on and many memories to cherish on the long road to reach this point. You have done the demanding work to raise a child who is now a young adult with a high school diploma. Now that young adult is about to transition to another life changing time in life—college. Once the family has completed the overwhelming process of college admissions, is your teen ready for what is around the corner once he begins college? Is your teen prepared for college academics and college culture?

Then let me help.

I have a summer bridge to college success boot camp for first-year, incoming freshmen students. The program is designed specifically for college-bound students who are transitioning from high school to college.

Students will learn specific strategies directly from me–a first-year college professor with more than ten years of college teaching experience. No matter the level of achievement in high school, incoming college students will undoubtedly deal with unexpected challenges their first semester.
For college-bound students, preparation, and exposure to what is ahead is key to accelerating their personal growth and development.

This intense boot camp is jam-packed with tools designed to help students learn to:

– Recognize and identify their learning issues that need correction and pivot sooner rather than later.
– Practice self-advocacy strategies that put them in charge of their learning and retention.
– Develop useful behavioral and organizational skills that will lend themselves to increased academic success.
– Identify supportive resources that will be of benefit to their success.

This four-session program meets virtually once a week and is a small group, hands-on experience tailored to help students become successful the first semester and lesson the college culture shock.
